Open source your app?

Hi Karelia team. First post here--I hope you're still reading these.

Fellow developer here, and a huge fan of THL. Your attention to keyboard shortcuts and interface design is top notch. I've tried using all of the alternatives, and nothing has ever worked quite as well for my workflow.

It's clear that development on THL has run its natural course--would you consider open sourcing it? If you are still making any money on it I'm guessing it would be the sync service and not software sales anyway.

It's possible it might die of attrition anyway, but it's guaranteed to die off as commercial abandonware. At least as open source you've be giving it a chance and the developers in your community a chance to keep it going.

Re: Open source your app?

I've reached out to Karelia offering volunteer fixing of the issue several months back along with a requisite NDA, etc., but heard nothing back.  I've submitted bug reports, as well and its all crickets. Based on the App Store reviews, Karelia hasn't responded to anything in about 3 years.

I reached out to Andy Kim last night. He's been active on GitHub in the last year and might know something.

I did the same, asking the simple question, "Why just disappear?  Why not at least inform your customers you've abandoned the business?"  I didn't really expect a reply, and received none.  I could speculate: personal crisis, overwhelm, something else.  But it's moot.

With a recent upgrade to an M1 MacBook Pro, the Hit List is no longer stable.  Tabs no longer work; attempting to rename a list crashes the app.  With regret (I've been using it since 2009), I'm moving to OmniFocus.
